Victim seeks compensation for dog bite injuries

Even the most avid dog lover can experience ongoing emotional trauma from an animal attack. This is on top of the accompanying physical impact of dog bite injuries, which are often severe and require extensive medical treatment. One Texas woman is seeking financial compensation for these types of injuries after she says she was attacked by a dog that had gotten loose from its home.

The victim filed her suit in late Oct. 2018, a couple of months after the early August attack. According to the claim, she did not do anything to antagonize or attract the dog's attention. Instead, she had simply been walking by the home of the dog's owners when she was bitten and attacked.

The owners allegedly knew that the dog had a propensity for biting, but failed to re-home the animal to safer location once they realized the issue. They are also accused of shirking their responsibility to properly restrain or tie up the dog to prevent it from being near or attacking people. Her suit alleges that these two factors culminated in the life-altering attack from which she is still suffering.

Her lawsuit cites her injuries, including ongoing pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, physical impairment, lost wages and disfigurement. Financial compensation in cases such as this is important for Texas victims who are recovering from dog bite injuries. Since the recovery process is rarely straightforward and often requires ongoing medical treatment and time spent away from work, legal recourse is often a necessary component for victims.
